The ABA League table really shows just how competitive this regional basketball competition in Europe is - its packed full of teams from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina all vying for position. During the regular season which kicks off the competition, the team with the most wins at the end of the day is the one sitting at the top - and thats determined primarily through the old fashioned win/loss record.
Its not uncommon to see Serbian teams like Partizan Belgrade and Crvena Zvezda up front out in front, but other teams like Budućnost and Cedevita Olimpija are also always good for a solid playoff run.
The top teams in the table qualify for the post season where the champion is decided in a real nail-biter of a playoff bracket with series formats. Its also worth noting that teams who get seeded higher in the playoffs get that all important home-court advantage and in the ABA league that can make all the difference.
In general though the standings reflect a clear pecking order with the top teams always being the usual suspects from Serbia - but it's never a done deal and teams in the middle of the table always seem to be fighting it out for playoff spots right up until the very end.
