Cricket BPL standings are kind of a big deal in Bangladesh, because - unlike a lot of other leagues - the winner isn't the team that ends up at the top of the table at the end of it all. The BPL is a Twenty20 competition run by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, played out in a double round-robin and playoffs format. At the moment we're using 6 teams, so every spot in the table has a little more weight to it as the regular season gets going and things start to get a bit tighter.
In practical terms though, the table is the first step on the road to the title. Teams start out by getting through the regular season, and then the top teams move on to the playoffs, rather than the team winning it all from first spot. So finishing high in the standings is pretty crucial - because the BPL title is actually won in the knockout stages after the league phase is done, not just by being top of the table.
That's one of the reasons the standings page is so useful to users of the site. It shows who's doing what, who's still got a sniff at the playoffs and who's in danger of missing out altogether in the knockout rounds. With a short format tournament like the BPL, a few good wins can lift a team up in no time, but the teams that manage to stay near the top of the table usually end up with the clearest route to the trophy.
The BPL has had a few different champions over the years, and you can see pretty clearly which teams have handled the BPL structure best. Comilla Victorians were the winners in 2022 and then again in 2023 - after that Fortune Barishal took the title in 2024 and then defended it in 2025. More recently, the Rajshahi Warriors were the winners in the 2025/2026 season, and they took the title by beating the likes of Chattogram Royals in the final.
Over the years, Comilla Victorians have come out on top the most with 4 titles. And when you look at the history of the tournament, you see that it's not just about who ends up top of the table at any one time - it's about who can handle the playoff stage the best.
A good BPL standings page should do a few things all at once: show us where all the teams are currently, let us know who's in with a shout for the playoffs, and put the table in the context of the wider history of the competition. But here's the thing - the ladder isn't the finish line in the BPL. It's the starting point for the knockout rounds, where the real business of winning the title gets done.
