About this competition
Liga 1 Indonesia - Standings, Table & Season Format
Indonesia's top flight, Lions Football League, but to us it's often just commonly referred to as Liga 1 (or the Super League) - the league operates in the good old fashioned way: teams rack up points all season, the team at the top of the standings gets the title, and the table dictates who gets a shot at the continental competition and who needs to worry about getting relegated. Liga 1 is played out by 18 clubs, each one pushing to get ahead of the rest.
Season calendar & fixture schedule
Liga 1 kicks off every August and finishes in May, but we know it's usually a long haul from August to May. The 2025-26 season is already set to kick off on August 8th 2025 and will wrap up on May 23rd 2026, with a break from December 1st to 19th 2025 because of the SEA Games.
Top table setters
The Liga 1 table is all about a handful of big players who drive the conversation. When you talk about the standings, it's usually the likes of:
- Persib Bandung
- Persija Jakarta
- Arema
- Persebaya Surabaya
- Bali United
- PSM Makassar
- Borneo FC Samarinda
- Madura United
- Dewa United Banten
- Bhayangkara Presisi
These big clubs tend to get all the media attention, generate huge betting volumes, and always seem to be around the top of the table - especially when they're up against some of their bigger rivals.
Last year's champ
Persib Bandung are the current defending champions going in to the new season.
What the table means to bettors
The Liga 1 standings are about more than just who's top and who's bottom:
- The title race: we all know it's not the biggest wins that seal the deal - it's the teams that are consistent over a long time who usually come out on top.
- The mid-table melee: it's always the teams right in the middle of the table that make for the most interesting viewing, with results going either way and the odds swinging wildly.
- The relegation battle: when it's crunch time for the bottom teams, you can see the way their approach to games change, especially in the ones they really need to win.
The current season is also a chance to track down the streaks and runs that really tell you how a team is doing. Like who has the longest winning streak at 11 games and who's been unbeaten for 13 games in a row - these are the kinds of things that really start to separate the teams in the league.
