Kenyan Premier League Standings, League Format & Recent Winners
League format and table dynamics
The Kenyan Premier League is standard league format where teams pick up points all season long and the standings decide the champion as well as CAF slots. The 2024-25 season ran from 24 Aug 2024 to 22 Jun 2025 and the next season 2025-26 is scheduled for 20 Sep 2025 to 30 May 2026.
Relegation Roundup
Relegation has changed a bit depending on the season:
- In 2024-25 we saw two teams get the boot - Bidco United and Posta Rangers got relegated.
- FKF is saying for 2025-26 the bottom three teams will be relegated straight up, no playoffs.
Recent Champions, including 2025
- The 2024-25 champions were Kenya Police
- Gor Mahia took home the 2023-24 title - their 21st one, actually (and yes "2025" champion means the one that finished in June 2025, which as we know was Kenya Police).
Recent Golden Boot winners (top scorers)
- Ryan Ogam smashed 15 goals in 2024-25 to take the top spot
- Benson Omala scored 19 goals in 2023-24 to take the top prize
- and by the way as we get deeper into 2025-26 Paul Okoth with Ulinzi Stars is already leading the pack with a bunch of goals.
Is the league balanced?
We'd say so - Kenya is a bit of a draw heavy low scoring league which keeps the mid-table teams tight and makes small streaks of form move teams up or down the table in a hurry (which is just what we need for form/odds movement analysis on our match pages). And it looks like your own data agrees - it's a low event profile (high draw share, low goals) which is exactly why standings context matters so much when we're betting.
